Racing to Cinco de Mayo!

Are you ready for your Cinco de Mayo Celebration? There are many different activities you can do to help you prepare with your friends and family, but let’s start by racing there! You can create your very own Cinco de Mayo themed race car with your friends and family.

The first step in racing towards Cinco de Mayo is getting your tools ready for your race car.

 

All you need to get started is:
1. Toilet paper roll(s)
2. Cardboard
3. Scissors
4. Hole-Punch
5. Paint or markers to decorate your car.
6. Thumbtacks
7. (Optional: bottle caps, tooth picks and straws)

Now let’s start putting your race car together!
Step 1: Use your scissors to cut a square in the middle of one side of the tube. This will be your driver’s seat.
Step 2: Use the hole-punch to make holes where your tires will be located on the tube.
Step 3: Decorate your tube with your favorite Cinco de Mayo colors to get ready for the big day.
-If you want to get really creative, try drawing something like a guitar or sombrero on your car to make it more festive!
Step 4: Use the cardboard to draw and cut out the wheels for your racecar. Then use the thumb tacks to attach the wheels to the tube.
Option 2: You can also use bottle caps as wheels for your racecar and use straws and/or toothpicks to attach the caps to your wheels.
Step 5: Finish any last minor details on your race car, double check that the wheels are in place and it is ready to go!

Do you want to know what it takes to be the King of the Hill in Eat My Dust? Then, you’ll need a little real world car knowledge to keep you on top of your game. After all, how much do you really know about Off-Road tires? These tires are specifically installed onto vehicles for Off Road activities, ranging from sand-racing and rock-crawling, to mud-plowing.

Have you been racking up major points and driving your way toward victory for your team? Whether you’re a Dragon or Scorpion, making your way onto the Racing Circuit LeaderBoard is a victory like no other. After you kill some zombies and finish trash talking your opponent, head to the races to burn some serious rubber. It is important you vamp up your ride to give you the best chance of defeating your racing foes!

Today’s leader has a serious head start on the rest of the players, so rev your engine and start trying to make your way to the top! You can also check out the Team Scoreboard where the Dragons currently have a big lead on the Scorpions. Don’t let your team fall behind, hop in your ride and start killing some zombies and earning some serious points! No matter which team you’re on, however, making your way onto the LeaderBoard will give you some bragging rights and a chance to show Dragons and Scorpions alike who the real leader is!

Wrench’s Facts- Perfecting the Turn

Do tracks with lots of curves and turns scare you? Do you often find yourself falling behind on those tight corners? Most racers don’t realize that making the perfect turn isn’t all about handling- in fact, all aspects of the car contribute to its ability to round a corner.

When approaching a corner, be sure to take an exterior approach. This means that if you are turning left, you should be on the far right side of the track. Taking an exterior approach will help to decrease the angle of the turn, allowing you to maintain a higher speed.

Surprisingly, when rounding a corner, you should apply your brakes as late as possible but before you actually start to turn. By driving straight and slowing down rapidly, your car will slow down faster. However be sure not to brake too much!

As you enter the curve, accelerate enough to maintain a constant speed throughout the turn. This is where your car’s suspension and handling will make an impact. A car’s handling directly impacts the speed at which it can make a turn. Similarly, a car’s suspension will help to keep all of the tires on the ground, although too much suspension can make it difficult to control. Once you are ready to start exiting the turn, be sure to progressively increase your acceleration while decreasing your turning.
